Donna asks…
My dietitian told me to eat more fat? (healthy fats)?
He said that because I’m a fast oxidizer(basically means I burn carbs very quickly), I should eat a diet higher in fats. He even told me to eat full-fat cheese and whole milk, but I’m a little afraid to do that.
Now I’m afraid that I’m eating too many healthy healthy fats.
On a typical day I may have:
salmon
cashews(about 13)
peanut butter (usually 1 tablespoon)
vegetables sauted with olive oil
cheese
..I have all this in addition to fruits and other things. I typically only eat healthy foods.
I’m afraid I may be taking in too many healthy fats. Is this bad?
Joy answers:
Your dietitian should know what he is talking about and to be honest with you, you don’t eat too much fat in your normal diet.
My friend recently started going to a very exclusive dietitian and she HAS to eat animal and saturated fats! She has two shots of melted butter a day!! And she is losing weight from her new diet!
You wont be getting too much more fat from full fat milk and cheese so do not worry. Most people eat full fat dairy. If you are very concerned you can get a second opinion from a reputable dietitian.
Other sources of fats are in macadamias, avocados, white fish, meat & eggs.
